This year, the family concert that the Pollença Festival organizes in each edition is based on rhythm, thanks to the extreme dynamism of the Quatuor Beat percussion quartet. They present Kromoritmos, an energetic and amusing show in which the contemporary music happens to be traditional music.
Quatuor Beat was created in France in 2003 by Gabriel Benlolo, Jérôme Guicherd, Laurent Fraiche and Adrien Pineau, when the four were in the National Conservatory of Music.
They have been awarded in competitions Gaetano Zinetti of Verona (2006) and Illzach (2007), being the only percussion ensemble that has obtained international prizes in competitions of chamber music open to all type of formations.
Kromoritmos is composed of the following pieces:
Omphalo Centric Lecture, by Nigel Westlake
Kromo-jungle, by Quatuor Beat
Variations on a theme by Paganini, by Witold Lutoslawski (Arranger Quatuor Beat)
Absence, by Goran Bregovic (Arranger Quatuor Beat)
