Fifth and last concert of the XI Vila de Santanyí International Music Festival. It is held in the parish church of Sant Andreu de Santanyí, with the Illes Balears Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its head conductor Pablo Mielgo, and  flutist Rafael Adobas as soloist.

Awarded first prize at the 10th Kobe International Flute Competition 2022 and third prize at the Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition in 2019, Spanish-Filipino flutist Rafael Adobas Bayog is part of a new generation of flutists who combine musical creation with other artistic disciplines.

He was born in Ibiza, he trained at the Conservatory of this city and later at the ESMUC, with Vicens Prats. He continued at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich, where he studied with Andrea Lieberknecht and Natalie Schwaabe (piccolo), as well as baroque flute with Marion Treupel-Franck.

He has performed as a soloist with the Copenhagen Philharmonic, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Odense Symphony Orchestra, and the Webern Kammerphilharmonie. He made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2022 with the support of the Siemens Arts Program.

The Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears was created in 1988 under the institution called Fundació Pública de les Balears per a la Música, which includes the Govern Balear, Ayuntamiento de Palma and Consell de Mallorca. The Orchestra develops its regular season at the Auditorium in Palma, the opera seasons at the Teatro Principal de Palma and the Teatro Principal de Maó, as well as various performances in different places on the Islands.

It has accompanied internationally renowned soloists such as Juan Diego Flórez, Kiri Te Kanawa, Teresa Berganza, Joaquín Achúcarro, Piotr Anderszewski, María Bayo, Simón Orfila, Joan Pons, Kate Lindsey, Michel Camilo, Radovan Vlatkovic, Katia and Marielle Labèque.

It currently has Julian Rachlin as an international artist in residence and the young violinist Francisco Fullana as a Balearic artist.
