This songwriter from Valencia is one of the greatest exponents of the Nova Cançó, a musical and artistic movement that emerged in the Franco period (the late fifties of the last century) driven by the demand for the use of Catalan.
Ramón Pelegero Sanchis (Xativa, 1940), better known as Raimon, released his first album in 1963. It was an EP containing, among others, Al vent (In the Wind), a song written in 1959 and which immediately became a symbol against the dictatorship.
Over the years he has published over forty albums, with his own songs and poems put to music by Joan Rois de Corella, Joan Timoneda, Ausias March and Salvador Espriu, among other Catalan authors.
Raimon returns to Mallorca after four years of absence presenting his latest album, Rellotge d'emocions (2011), a work with a strong autobiographical character which collects themes like Punxa de temps, He passejat per València sol o Mentre s’acosta la nit.
