This famous work of Russian composer Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971) is the focus of the program of the third concert of the Festival Pollença. He composed it in 1917 from a text by his friend the Swiss writer Charles Ferdinard Ramuz, based in turn on a Russian folk tale. Its premiere was in 1918 in the Swiss city of Lausanne.
This is a piece for three actors (the soldier, the devil and the princess) and seven instruments: violin, double bass, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, clarinet and percussion.
From musical part will be handled by the Chamber Orchestra of The World Orchestra, under the direction of Josep Vicent. The narrators are the actress and stage director Rosa Novell, actor and theater director Andres Lima and writer and poet Biel Mesquida.
