Soloists of the Czech Philharmonic

0 Votes

Since its inception, the Festival of Pollença is intended as a platform for presenting new musical values that appear in Spain and are taking an international dimension. This is the case of the Basque pianist Judith Jáuregui, who in this 55rd edition is presented together with the soloists of one of the most important European orchestras: the Czech Philharmonic.

This formation was founded in 1996, based on the Sextet of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Its repertoire includes works from the Baroque to contemporary music. It consists of seven violins (Jirí Vodicka, Otakar Bartoš, Milan Vavrínek, Helena Skopová, Ondrej Skopový Vaclav Prudil, Petra Brabcová), two violas (Jaroslav Pondelícek, Jan Šimon), two cellos (František Host, Josef Špacek) and a contrabass (Petr Ries).

Jirí Vodicka, who is also responsible for the artistic direction, is playing an Italian violin made by Giovanni Batista Guadagnini in Turin in 1779.

Born in San Sebastian in 1985, Judith Jáuregui is a pianist who is increasingly applied in the symphonic circuit. She has performed with orchestras in Spain, Germany or Venezuela and has recently toured China. Her first album, dedicated to Schumann, was named Best Classical Album in the Independent Music Awards, and in autumn 2016 she will publish a new album with works by Chopin, Scriabin and Szymanowski.
