Terra baixa is a drama from 1896 by the playwright and poet Àngel Guimerá and one of the most performed works in the Catalan repertoire. Now, Pablo Ley reconstructs this classic to place it in the 20th century and turn it into a magnificent detective story and thriller about the class struggle, without losing sight of the origins or renouncing the essence of this universal text.
Pablo Ley introduces two new characters: a journalist and a police commissioner, Vinagret. He will be in charge of investigating a crime: a worker has murdered his master. Manelic has killed Sebastià to free Marta (and himself).
This production by the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya is performed by Pepo Blasco, Laura Conejero, Mohamed El Bouhali, Borja Espinosa, Eduard Farelo, Mercè Mariné, Roser Pujol, Manel Sans, Kathy Sey and Anna Ycobalzeta. Catalan language.
