Al McKay, former guitarist from 1973 to 1981 of Earth, Wind & Fire (EWF), now leads his Allstars and brings us an interesting proposal, The Earth, Wind & Fire Experience. It recovers the spirit of the original band and the sounds that made EWF the kings of the dance floors around the world. The secret?, An explosive combination of funk, jazz, soul, gospel, pop, blues, psychedelia, African music and even some rock and roll.
McKay, who co-authored the famous song September, is surrounded by members of the rhythm section that originally accompanied the group. In total, fourteen components make up this show: Al McKay (guitar), Ben Dowling (keyboards), Devere Duckett (voice), Freddie Flewelen (bass), Dean Gant (keyboards), Aaron Haggerty (drums), Michael Harris (trumpet), Justin Kirk (trombone), David Leach (drums), Tim Owens (vocals), Steve Reid (trumpet), Claude Woods (vocals) and Ed Wynne (sax).
Interestingly, this show and Earth, Wind & Fire - which is still active as a group but with a different formation to the original-will coincide this summer in their respective European tours
The Earth, Wind & Fire Experience forms part of the program of Estiva Arts By The Sea, a multicultural festival held for the first time this year in Port Adriano, a marina designed by Philippe Starck. After the concerts, which take place in a tent designed for the occasion, attendees can enjoy a summer garden behind the main stage, as a backstage, and cheer with the artists.
