The second proposal of the 24th edition of the Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla Festival is Trempera!, a band formed by Xavi Torres (piano), Bruno Calvo (trumpet), Lluc Casares (tenor sax and clarinet), Giuseppe Romagnoli (double bass) and Joan Terol (drums).
All of them musicians of great talent and international recognition: Xavi Torres is one of the most projected pianists in Europe, with awards such as the Dutch Jazz Competition 2016 and Millor Grup de Jazz 2015 (awarded by the AMJM); Bruno Calvo has been in second place in the Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition 2017; Lluc Casares is currently studying the prestigious Artist Diploma at the Juilliard School of Music in New York; and Joan Terol and Giuseppe Romagnoli are two of the most active sidemen in Catalonia, Holland and Italy.
Trempera! It has its origins in 2009, when the five musicians met at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and later met again at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam. There they decided to create the group.
They have performed concerts throughout Europe and their work has been recognized in several contests and prizes. Now they presents their album Saturnalia (Berthold Records, 2017).
