Amour de vivre is a documentary directed by Luis Ortas with script by Joana Mas that tells , through numerous testimonies the Menorcan origins of the French writer Albert Camus and parallel the migrations from Menorca to Algeria in the early twentieth century. It is filmed in Algeria, Paris, the French Provence , Barcelona and Menorca .
Scholars of his life and work talk about Camus, and also those who knew him, friends of the French intelligentsia with great weight in the world of culture and literature of the twentieth and twenty-first century like journalist and founder of Le Nouvel Observateur , Jean Daniel , the writer Roger Grenier or the recently deceased Robert Gallimard, nephew of the founder of the publishing house of the same name in which Camus was reader and published almost all his works.
The film covers the places the journalist, novelist , essayist and playwright lived in or visited : the poor neighborhood of his native Algeria , the cloister of Sant Francesc in Palma , the beautiful enclaves of Tipasa and Djemila ( Algeria ) Paris cafes frequented and even the charming cemetery of Lourmarin in the French Provence where he is buried.
The writer was born on November 5, 1913 in Algeria , when the country was a French colony . And he died in a tragic car accident in the French Provence on January 4, 1960, three years after receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature. This year marks the centenary of his birth.
