This film series is held in the parallel activities that accompany the exhibition Towers and skyscrapers. From Babel to Dubai, which can be seen at CaixaForum until 26 May.
The fascination of cinema by vertical architecture has been repeated in many films since the dawn of this industry until today. The Fountainhead directed by King Vidor in 1949, is a hymn to individualism about the struggle of an architect against the incomprehension of his environment. The protagonist, Howard Roark, is inspired by the world-famous American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
The vertical plane Cinema cycle is coordinated by Fernando Lara, journalist and film writer and former director of the International Film Festival of Valladolid. The films are screened in original version with subtitles.
