Via Fora returns this year and the entire walled medieval city is once again the setting where the history of Alcúdia unfolds and its evolution from the 14th century to the xx.

The dramatized guided tours go back to the street and public spaces to show us once again episodes from the past in locations of the medieval enclosure.

1.- First scene 1357. The construction of the walls. Porta des Moll

In the year 1357, Pere the Ceremonious, king of the Catalan-Aragonese crown, remains at war with Pedro el Cruel, king of the crown of Castile. Faced with the threat of an attack by the Castilian army on the coasts of Majorca, Pere the Ceremonious ordered that work on the walls of Alcúdia, which had been started in 1300 by Jaume II of Mallorca, be continued and completed. Men from the different towns on the island work on the construction, totaling about 800 people. The defense of the town is in the hands of the captain of Alcúdia, Guillem Mosqueroles, and the royal mayor, Bernat de Moror. Alcúdia is the only town that can serve as a refuge for the inhabitants of the foreign part of Mallorca in the event of a Castilian attack.

2.- Chained to privileges 1646. Carrer de Sant Jaume

On July 13, 1648, after the War of la Germania, Alcúdia clearly positioned itself in favor of the nobles and the monarchy and King Felipe II granted Alcúdia the title of city, with all its privileges. But now the nobles don't think it's right that Alcúdia has as many privileges as Palma and the viceroy's maneuvers begin to take away the rights they had already achieved.

3.- Lo cap d’en Joan Virrei. End of the 17th century. Gate of Sant Sebastià

Banditry was a social and political phenomenon that hit Mallorca in the 17th century, the ruthless fight between the Canamunts and Canavalls spread throughout the island. Murders between factions were frequent and the cruelty of their actions were exhibited in an exemplary manner among the population. * This scene is not suitable for children under 12 years of age

4. -Yellow fever. 1870. Baluard de la reina

In 1870, yellow fever broke out in Palma and quickly all the municipalities on the island went into self-isolation, creating their own sanitary cordons and lazarettos for quarantine, as was customary at the time to prevent the entry of the dreaded epidemic. In this situation, Alcúdia has an advantage by having its walls to facilitate the task of cordoning off.

5.-The arrival of tourists in the 60's. Pont de la Vila Roja

This scene is set on a hot summer day in the 1960s, the city of Alcúdia is in full swing, during its patron saint festivities and tourists from many parts of the world begin to form part of the usual landscape of the municipality. Their appearance, especially their way of dressing and behaving, surprises and disrupts the routines of the local population.
