This trio was formed in 1998 by initiative of pianist Alexander Malter, violinist Christian Stadelmann and cellist Dietmar Schwalke. They chose the name in honor of Vincent van Gogh, given the admiration of the musicians for the Dutch painter.
Their repertoire is very broad, ranging from the works of Mozart to contemporary music, with special attention to Russian composers Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich.
In Mallorca they participate in the Classical Music Festival Port de Sóller, in which they perform a program consisting of Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello in C Major KV 548 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Piano Trio, nr. 2 my-flat, op 100 (D929) of Franz Schubert.
