Gonzalo Fanjul, Justicia alimentaria (Food justice) commissioner, and Pep Bonet, author of the photographs in the exhibition, realize a tour of the exhibition which opens on Thursday as part of PalmaPhoto 2013.
Pep Bonet, Multimedia World Press Photo Award 2013 for his video Into the Shadows, shows in this new research the problem of distribution and access to food globally. The exhibition, presented at CaixaForum Palma, is curated by Gonzalo Fanjul and has the support of FAO and Oxfam.
Justicia alimentaria (Food Justice) consists of photographs taken by the Mallorcan photojournalist (Colonia de Sant Jordi, 1974) in rural communities in Bolivia and Tanzania, as well as audiovisual testimonies of small producers in developing countries. Their stories show the many things to do for the future of food on the planet: from organizing to demand fair prices, to create stores that permit to conserve grain, seize local crop varieties or the improvement of irrigation techniques.
Another work of social criticism of Pep Bonet can also be seen, until 8 September, at Es Baluard. This is the series One Goal, with photographs taken between 2002 and 2007 showing the terrible aftermath of the war in Sierra Leone from amputee children and young people due to landmines.
