An exhibition on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Museu Arqueològic i Centre d’Investigació de Deià, which is retrospective of the treasures that the archaeologist and painter William Waldren (New York, 1924 - Deia, 2003) left in Deia, a village of which he was adoptive son and where he is buried in the cemetery.
The exhibition is presented divided into two spaces. One exhibits paintings created by the artist between 1952 and 1962, in which dominate textures, control of space and relief. And the second, sculptures fruit of his archaeological work, in addition to his own material of his facet as a writer, poet and lecturer.
William Waldren, since 1960, turned to excavate and investigate the prehistory of Mallorca. He discovered 28 archaeological sites on the northwest coast of the island. Visitors to the exhibition can take a tour of his excavations through Cova de Muleta, Son Matge, Son Mas and the whole of Ferrandell Olesa Son-Mas.
