Valldemossa

The visit to the Royal Monastery of Valldemossa includes the church, of neoclassic style and with frescoes by Fray Manuel Bayeu (brother of Francisco Bayeu, brother in law of Goya), the pharmacy, with a collection of 135 ceramic Catalan jars from the seventeenth and eighteenth century, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Palace of King Sancho, the Priory Cell, the Chopin and George Sand Museum, and the Municipal Museum, which occupies the ground floor of the monastery. Preserves an antique Guasp printing press, among the best preserved in Europe, with a collection of 1,450 woodblock prints from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century

.Also features an art gallery with works of famous Majorcan, Catalan and foreign painters of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries (Ricardo Anckermann, Antonio Ribas, Santiago Rusiñol ...) and the Hall of Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria (1847-1915), with paintings, ceramics and personal effects of this untiring traveler who wrote the massive book Die Balearen (Balearic Islands).

After refurbishing the museum in May 2012 a new exhibition has been opened of unseen material that is part of the legacy that the Archduke left to the family Cilimingras. The sample includes about one hundred pieces including photographs, documents (including a letter from his cousin the Empress Sissi) and rare objects as his collection of bow ties or utensils used in Masses celebrated on board the Nixe.
