'The spirit of Mopti'

Cooproducción between Mali and France 1999 full of values ​​such as tolerance, respect for others and, above all, a sense of humor. The film revolves around five characters: a Dogon, a Buddhist monk, a Fulani, a Tuareg and Bela a son of the city and the highway. The story takes place east of Mali, in a Muslim town called Mopti, where the savannah meets the desert and where multiple languages are spoken​​. Every Thursday ethnically diverse traders gather at the market where trade is practiced in a traditional way.

After the film, projected with subtitles in Castilian, a debate will be moderated by Toni Servera, Project Technician of d’Assemblea de Cooperació per la Pau de les Illes Baleares (Assembly of Cooperation for Peace of the Balearic Islands), which will have the presence of Sileye Sy, representing the Association of Immigrants Fedde Kisal Danniyankobe Fulbe.

The pass of this film is part of the African film series organized by the NGO d’Assemblea de Cooperació per la Pau de les Illes Baleares for, in a campaign which aims to bring the African reality closer to Mallorcan society breaking down stereotypes and prejudices about the people of this continent.
