To mark the staging of Aida, which will close the XXVII Opera Season of Teatre Principal, in the Sala Petita will be held this lecture-with the participation of some of the artists involved in the production. This famous opera in four acts with music by Giuseppe Verdi and libretto in Italian by Antonio Ghislanzoni, was premiered to great acclaim at the Opera House of the Khedive in Cairo on December 24, 1871.
The libretto is based on the French version that Camille du Locle wrote on the subject proposed by the Egyptologist Auguste Marietteu. It tells the story of the Ethiopian princess Aida, captured and sent to Egypt as a slave.
