Oriol Broggi directs this play by Canadian Wajdi Mouawad (Beirut, 1968), one of the most shocking playwright in the current international scene. In 2009 he was the associate artist at the Avignon Festival and received that year's Grand Prix of theater from the French Academy.
Incendies (its original title) is a terrible story, epic and tragic at the same time. Start with the testament of Nawal, who asks her twin sons to look for their father, whom they thought was dead, and a brother, whose existence they ignored, they must deliver a closed envelope to each of them. This search will take them back to their home country, which is not named but which appears to be Lebanon.
Incendis is played by Clara Segura, Julio Manrique, Xavier Boada, Marcia Cisteró, Claudia Font, Xavier Ricart and Xavier Ruano. The play opens the XVII Fira de Teatre de Manacor, which will be celebrated until Dec. 8. The event also serves to inaugurate the new Auditorium of Manacor, the opening of which has been delayed since the past two years.
