This cartoonist and illustrator, with unmistakable style, is part of the vast pool of artists who have turned the Mallorcan comic into one of the most renowned in Europe. Since the 80s, Pere Joan (Palma, 1956) has developed an intense activity that has led him to publish his cartoons in local and national newspapers, specialized magazines, like the now defunct Cairo, and participate in numerous editorial projects. In 1991 he won the award for best work in the International Comic Fair of Barcelona.
Together with Max (National Comic Prize in 2007) he embarked on Nosotros somos los muertos (We are the dead), an alternative comic magazine published in Palma between 1995 and 2007. In 2011 they published Nutella Experience, a comic adaptation of the novel by the writer Agustín Fernández Mallo.
The exhibition Aparició invasiva (2012) consists of originals with pencil and gouache and digital printing. Opens November 29 at 19:30.
This fifth installment of the festival Còmic Nostrum is celebrated in off mode, which means without any financial support from public institutions. The only source of funding will be selling a collection of six serigraphs by Max, Pere Joan, Alex Fito, Guillem March, Pau and Tomeu Seguí. (Retail price, 25€).
