Casal de Cultura Can Gelabert hosts three exhibitions in its galleries of as many artists from Mallorca : Toni Crespo, Miquel Segura and Vincente Torres.
Neolengua is the title of the proposal of Toni Crespo (1950 ), who draws on the influences of American abstraction (especially Motherwell) and European. He presents a set of pieces of different formats that give life to the words of Orwell, in 1984, and Carson MaCullers two authors to whom he feels a special attraction.
Meanwhile, Miquel Segura (1961) combines in Il lusions i • petites troballes his latest work in which a significant shift in his career can be observed, consisting of a process of removing superfluous elements and a more abstract look.
Finally, Vicenç Torres (1950) presents Sense pensament, a set of figurative works that, as a utopia, are designed as the resurgence of man and nature after ecological collapse.
It is noteworthy that Vicenç Torres, linked to the Mallorcan forefront of the seventies, participates in the traveling project Sediments along with four other artists of his generation: Pep Canyelles, Gerard Matas, Àngel Sanmartín and photographer Pep Ramon Bonet. It was presented this year at the Centro Conde Duque in Madrid and, after passing through Mahon and Ciutadella, can be seen in January 2014 in Alicante.
