With almost 90 years of age, and a very active professional life, the German pianist Fijiko Hemming is visiting Mallorca where she will offer two concerts that will be recorded and will form part of the special program that the Japanese television NHK TV makes about Frédéric Chopin's stay in the island. The venues for these concerts will be the Auditori of the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears (September 29) and the Cartoixa de Valldemossa (October 2).

Fijiko Hemming was born in Berlin on December 5, 1932 to a Japanese mother and Swedish father, she a pianist and he an architect and draftsman educated at the Bauhaus. When her parents divorced, her family settled in Shibuya (Tokyo) and she began her piano studies, giving her first concert at the age of 17. Considered a child prodigy, at 28 she returned to Germany to continue her studies at the Berlin Institute of Music. She will subsequently move to Vienna, where she works with the great master Paul Badura Skoda.

She has performed with the best orchestras and in the best concert halls in the world. In addition to being an excellent professional, Hemming exudes a humanity that is manifested in a multitude of solidarity concerts and the donation of royalties to earthquake victims, refugees and her great passion for animals.

The pianist's recordings have become an unusual phenomenon in classical music. An example of this is her album Campanella, which has sold more than two million copies.
