The acclaimed French violinist Gilles Apap returns this year to the Deià International Music Festival. On this occasion he will share the stage with the Camerata Deià in a concert with works by Shostakovich, Dvorak and Mendelssohn.
Born in Algeria in 1963, Apap is dedicated to gypsy, swing, Irish and bluegrass music, as well as masterpieces of classical music.
For its part, Camerata Deià, the Festival's resident ensemble, is made up of Susan Waterbury (violin), Alfredo Ardanaz (violin), Enrique Pastor (violin), Pablo Albornoz (violin), Byron Wallis (viola), Fernando Villegas (viola) , Andrew Smith (cello), Andrew Luchansky (cello) and Rosa Cañellas (cello).

The XLIV Deià International Music Festival is held from June 2 to September 29 with concerts at its various venues: Son Marroig (Deià), Sineu, Sa Bassa Rotja (Porreres) and Palau March (Palma). This year the Caló de s'Oli auditorium in Ibiza is also incorporated with a benefit concert for APNEEF. The pianist Alfredo Oyágüez Montero is its artistic director.
