Mallorcan band formed in 1997 by the brothers Javier and Nacho Vega. They alternate ska, punk and reggae, always with a base of rock. Now The Gran Orchestra Republican reaches Teatre Lloseta with its Gira pequeña 2013 (small tour), a concert in which they will do a review of their discography and recover some of the songs that are on their albums but which they usually not play live. They will also present themes part of their next album Capitalismo KO.
On this tour the band performs in reduced format (drums, bass, guitar, vocals and trombone) but no less festive and danceable because of it. La Gran Orquesta Republicana plays with miscegenation and mark ska rhythms without copying Mano Negra nor Doctor Calypso, nor do their rock riffs want to sound like Extremoduro. What they do is merge the best of each style and offer their fresh and casual version. Their music encourages dancing and their lyrics political reflection.
As openers will perform Wonderbrass with their disparate musical journey weaving music, cabaret and humor, this peculiar band draws from sources as disparate as the Muppets and black jazz of the 20s, all sprinkled with their own music and a sense of humor that makes their performances a fun show. The group is made up of: José Luis García (drums), Nacho Vegas (sax, clarinet, vocals), Didac Busqueto (tuba), Nestor House (trumpet, vocals) and Balta Bordoy (guitar).
