Josef Albers: process and engraving (1916-1976)

Exhibition of American Abstract painter of German origin Josef Albers (1888-1976) includes 103 pieces of graphic art, selected from the nearly 300 individual engravings he created and the thousands of studies and drawings through which the artist developed his final works.

This exhibition gives a rare insight about the workings of the artist's imagination. It presents his individual studies and the series in which Albers displayed the process and progress of the creation of images.

Josef Albers (1888-1976) is more known for his ties to the Bauhaus (where he was a student and teacher from 1920 to 1933) and for his oil paintings of the series Homage to the Square (1950-1976) than for his graphic work, to which he dedicated much of his career.
