Baltasar Samper (Palma, 1888-Mexico City, 1966) was a composer, conductor, music critic and ethnomusicologist very active in the Balearic Islands and Barcelona between 1915 and 1939. After the Spanish Civil War he went into exile first to France and later to Mexico, from where he never returned.
His songs for voice and piano are the soul of a work of great quality, recovered in 2018 thanks to the research of the musicologist Amadeu Corbera, who located them in Mexico, and the Ministry of Culture of the Balearic Government, who bought the scores from his heirs .
Now, the soprano Marta Bauzà and the pianist Tomeu Moll-Mas will perform many of those songs in this concert. Half an hour before the start, there will be a presentation by the interpreters and Amadeu Corbera, who will connect electronically from Glasgow.
