The third concert of the new edition of the Valldemossa Chopin Festival is given by the young Asturian pianist Martín García García, with a program that includes works by J.S. Bach, Franz Liszt, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Schubert and Sergei Rachmaninov.

Martín García García (Gijón, 1996) began his musical studies at the age of 5 with teachers Natalia Mazoun and Ilyà Goldfarb. He graduated from the Reina Sofía School of Music, where he studied with professor Galina Eguiazarova, and later completed a master's degree at the Mannes School of Music in New York, where he studied with Jerome Rose.

He has been awarded in numerous national and international competitions, among which the last two stand out in 2021: the First Prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition and the Third Prize at the XVIII Chopin Competition in Warsaw, being the first Spanish pianist awarded in this prestigious contest. He also received the special award from the Warsaw Philharmonic National Orchestra for the best concert performance.

His awards also include the First Prize at the International Keyboard Institute & Festival 2018, held in New York, the Rotary International in Moscow in 2008 or the Permanent Contest of Musical Youths of Spain in 2008, being the youngest pianist to win it in his history.

The young pianist has several tours planned in Japan, Europe and the USA.

The Chopin Festival 2022 is organized by the Associació Festivals de Valldemossa with the sponsorship of the Department of Culture, Heritage and Language Policy of the Consell de Mallorca.

Program 4 concerts in the month of August, which are held on Sundays in the cloister of the Cartoixa de Valldemossa with four young emerging pianists on the international level of classical music.

In addition to the concerts in the cloister, in the Sala Capitular de la Cartoixa you can see, from August 5 to 28, the exhibition Tintaigua by the Mallorcan plastic artist Mateu Coll, author of the poster for the new edition of the festival.
