Valldemossa

This is the first of the festivals, created around the world in memory of Frédéric Chopin. It started in 1930 by initiative of the Mallorcan composer Joan Maria Thomàs, to remember the stay in Valldemossa in the winter of 1838-1839, of the Polish composer and the French writer George Sand.

Throughout the history of the festival featured the presence of significant composers and performers.

Josep Guinovart, Albert Rafols-Casamada, Toni Catany or Miquel Barceló, are among the artists who designed posters and handbills. Held in August in the cloister of the Carthusian Monastery of Valldemossa.
