The diva of the Buenavista Social Club, la “novia del feeling”, as they call her in Cuba, Omara Portuondo, will celebrate her 90 years of life - 75 of them dedicated to music - on the stage of the Teatre Principal de Palma.
It is not the first time that she visits Mallorca - she did so in 2016-, but this time she will do it with a group that brings together some of the best talents and international figures of the new generation of Cuban jazz musicians and under the musical direction of the prestigious pianist Roberto Fonseca, with whom Omara has great chemistry and complicity on stage.
A few months after becoming a nonagenarian, on October 29, Omara proves to be a woman of incredible vitality. In 2019 she received the Latin Grammy Award for Musical Excellence for her career and was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts awarded by the Government of Spain, which adds to the countless awards and distinctions won throughout her long career.
Omara Portuondo (voice) surrounds herself on stage with Roberto Fonseca (piano and vocals),Andres Coayo (percussion), Ruly Herrera (drums), Yandy Martinez (electric and acoustic double bass) and Rossio Jimenez (vocals).
