Traditional Easter Concert with the performance of Stabat Mater (1767) by Joseph Haydn. With participation of soloists, orchestra and the Cor del Teatre Principal, directed by Francesc Bonnín. The concert is part of the XXXVIII Opera Season of the Teatre Principal de Palma.
Franz Joseph Haydn (1737-1806) is considered, with Mozart and Beethoven, the great representative of musical classicism. In his Stabat Mater, he exposes all his religious sensitivity and expresses the tragedy and suffering that the Virgin Mary experiences at the feet of her son Jesus, who dies in agony on the cross, a true allegory of the Universal Mother who suffers for all humanity.
