Manuel Quadreny, member of the ABABS (Asociación Balear de Amigos de las Bandas Sonoras de Cine) and scholar of the figure and work of John Barry, will present the film Abismo (The deep). Directed by Peter Yates, and with music by the English composer, it won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for Down Deep Inside (John Barry, Donna Summer).
John Barry (Yorkshire, 1933 - New York, 2011) left an indelible legacy in film composition. With an iconic career, he lived for some time in Santa Margalida (Mallorca), where he had a house built, still unfinished today. Barry stood out as a British composer of music for film and television and won 5 Oscars throughout his career.
His masterful work earned him recognition from the Order of the British Empire, which reflected his impact and exceptional contributions to the world of music and film.
