📖 Christian mysticism and Vedic tradition

The production is based on Paramahansa Yogananda's work of the same title, incorporating passages from an earlier staging focused on the Gospel of John premiered at the Teatro María Guerrero. Rather than referring to a physical return, the piece approaches the second coming as an inner awakening to the consciousness embodied by Jesus of Nazareth, attainable through focused meditation and self-perception.

Interpreting the gospels through the lens of ancient Indian yogic philosophy, the performance highlights the essential harmony between Vedic traditions and Jesus' teachings. Rafael Álvarez reflects upon key biblical episodes and miracles to illuminate mystical yoga principles.

🎭 Rafael Álvarez 'El Brujo' and the jester's art

Drawing deep inspiration from Dario Fo's theatrical language and his classic Mistero Buffo, the actor employs humor, gestures, sound, and silence to revive medieval minstrel storytelling. The piece balances a quest for spiritual insight with playfulness, rhythm, and theatrical celebration.

✨ An engaging theatrical encounter pairing spiritual inquiry with the masterclass humor of oral tradition.
