📖 Archival records and the memory of a changing city
Between 1902 and 1914, Antoni Gaudí traveled repeatedly to the island to undertake the restoration of Palma Cathedral at the request of Bishop Campins. Yet his impact went far beyond religious commissions. Featuring original documents, period photographs, and historical accounts, the exhibition reveals the places he frequented and his ties to Mallorcan architects, artists, and cultural figures.
A notable highlight is the lost Casa Balet in Son Armadans, where a potential design intervention by Gaudí has been suggested. Through this and other examples, the exhibition reflects on modernism and the work of prominent local architects navigating between historicism and new trends.
