There are fragments of the world that remain within us: a landscape, the movement of the sea, some flowers, or the silent presence of a tree. In Greta Hammond's work, these everyday encounters are transformed into traces of an affective memory that finds in painting a place to reside and acquire new meanings.
Using photographs, drawings, poems, and materials from her personal archive, the artist constructs a visual universe in which memories overlap, images merge, and forms open themselves to new associations. Matter ceases to be a mere support and becomes a living territory, capable of storing experiences and giving rise to other landscapes.
Lovin’ Matter thus explores the intimate relationship between nature, memory, and affection. Between image and poetry, the works compose a sensitive cartography in which the sea, mountains, animals, and stones coexist, not as representations of a distant reality, but as presences that link us to the world.
Each painting is a way of capturing the fleeting and preserving what moves us. An open map that invites the viewer to explore their own memories and discover, in a texture, a stain, or an imagined place, the trace of a shared experience.
