The Capdepera Medieval Market is a large-scale historical festival held on the third weekend of May. During these days, the town transforms into an authentic medieval village, with streets filled with artisans, artists, knights, and merchants creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the past.
The main events take place in the historic center of the town and on the grounds of Capdepera Castle, built in the 14th century. The castle once served as a fortress protecting against pirates and has been well preserved, offering stunning views of the island and the sea from its walls.
The festival features a rich program in which participants recreate scenes from life in medieval Capdepera, such as the arrival of King James II and moments from the defense of the fortress against pirates. Theatrical performances and battles between knights in historical costumes are staged.
The culinary aspect includes tastings of traditional Mallorcan products such as cheese, cured meats, honey, pastries, olive oil, and wine. The taverns offer medieval specialties, roast meats, and local liqueurs.
