The young Japanese pianist Aimi Kobayashi opens the new edition of the Chopin Festival, which is being held in the cloister of the Cartoixa de Valldemossa, with this concert in which she plays J.S. Bach, Johannes Brahms and Frédéric Chopin.

Aimi Kobayashi (Yamaguchi, 1995) started playing the piano at the age of three, she made her concert debut at the age of eight and launched her international career at the age of nine. In 2005 she became the youngest winner of the Japan National Music Competition and since then she has had numerous triumphs: in 2009 she won the Asia-Pacific International Chopin Piano Competition junior section prize, in 2011 the Yasuko Fukuda, in 2012 the third prize in the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition for Young Artists and, in 2021, the fourth prize in the Warsaw Chopin Competition.

A career on the rise that has allowed her to perform with several important orchestras, both inside and outside of Japan. Among them, the Eighteenth Century Orchestra with Frans Brüggen, the Moscow Virtuosi with Vladimir Spivakov, the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra with James Judd or the Tokyo Philharmonic, among others. Her recent performances include recitals at La Roque-d'Anthéron and Salle Cortot in Paris, as well as her concerts with the Philharmonic Royal de Liège and Tonhalle orchestras.

Aimi Kobayashi has recorded works by Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, and Chopin for Warner Classics, and Schumann and Beethoven for EMI. She is currently continuing her studies with Meng-Chieh Liu at the Curtis Institute of Music.

The Chopin Festival 2022 is organized by the Associació Festivals de Valldemossa and shedules four concerts in the month of August. This year's edition of the Festival Chopin de Balldemossa is subsidized by the Department of Culture of the Consell de Mallorca.

The 4 concerts are held on Sundays in the cloister of the Cartoixa de Valldemossa with four young emerging pianists on the international level of classical music.

In addition to the concerts in the cloister, in the Sala Capitular de la Cartoixa you can see, from August 5 to 28, the exhibition Tintaigua by the Mallorcan plastic artist Mateu Coll, author of the poster for the new edition of the festival. Festival Chopin de Valldemosa
