Family Workshop 'Artefacto: A Thousand Tentacles'

CaixaForum Palma hosts a unique creative workshop to experiment with the body, air, and architecture through structures that transform the environment. 🎈🎨

Multidisciplinary artist Anna Irina Russell presents a participatory activity linked to the Artefacto project, facilitated by educators from the cultural centre.

📖 Play, air, and collective bodies

Increasing volume, inflating a membrane, or filling up with air are responses certain living organisms use in the face of danger or to communicate. In this visual arts workshop, participants draw inspiration from these phenomena to build temporary inflatable structures using fabric pieces.

These creations shape tentacles, cavities, and protrusions that attach as extensions to the geometric pieces of Artefacto. Combining them allows participants to engage with the surrounding space through play and experimentation, constructing a common ground where they become a collective body beyond human forms.

🎨 The artist and the Artefacto project

Artefacto is a mobile device halfway between an artistic installation and a pedagogical resource, designed to host mediation proposals created by artists and facilitated by educators.

Anna Irina Russell uses sculpture, installation, and performance to examine communication processes. Her practice investigates tensions between bodies, space, objects, and materials, using playfulness as a tool to question and subvert established communication patterns.
