Music Events in Mallorca

On September 11, 2026, the Palau March will host another event in the Summer Concerts 2026, within its programming dedicated to chamber music in the heart of Palma.

Violinist Bernt Lysell and pianist Carl Ponten present a program featuring works by Mozart, Sibelius and Saint-Saëns✨, in a journey that combines classical elegance, Nordic lyricism and the expressive richness of the romantic repertoire.

The rapport between the two performers, with extensive experience in chamber music, guarantees an evening of great sonic refinement and a balance between virtuosity and sensitivity.

Sons del món is the program with which the Palma Municipal Band tours the city's neighborhoods. A repertoire that blends music from different origins and adapts it to the symphonic band format: pasodoble, folk music, arrangements of international repertoire, and pieces designed to be listened to in the street.

The neighborhood concerts of the Band are one of the most appreciated proposals of the municipal program: free, outdoors and with the entire group playing a few meters from the public.

🎼 The Palma Municipal Music Band

Founded in 1849, the Palma Municipal Band is one of the oldest permanent ensembles in the Balearic Islands and a central part of the city's musical life. Each season combines concerts of symphonic repertoire for band with educational programs, collaborations with guest soloists, and a strong presence in Palma's neighborhoods and at institutional events.

Helmer runs through the songs everyone has sung at some point in stripped-back acoustic arrangements led by voice and guitar. A concert to hear up close, sitting in the square with the sea a few metres away.

🌅 Magaluf, a place to live

The programme runs from Thursday to Sunday, between 6 pm and 10 pm, alternating open-air cinema, concerts, dance workshops, storytelling, yoga and children's shows. Everything is free to attend and no booking is needed: just turn up at the square.

Plaça Jacques Sasson sits right beside Magaluf beach, on the promenade, with shade and open space to sit down. It is where the town has concentrated its commitment to local culture, aimed at residents of Calvià and visitors alike.

ℹ️ Good to know: an open-air activity with free entry until the space is full. Arriving a little early is a good idea and, for evening sessions, so is a light jacket.

The magic of the historic piano returns to the Cartuja de Valldemossa with the opening concert of the XVII Pianino Festival 2026, starring the prestigious Japanese pianist Naruhiko Kawaguchi.

The recital will take place in the Cell of Frédéric Chopin and George Sand, a unique space where the composer spent the winter of 1838-1839 and where the extraordinary atmosphere that inspired part of his work is still preserved today.

🎼 Chopin and the Spanish composers

Under the title "Chopin and Spanish composers"Naruhiko Kawaguchi will offer a program that explores the musical dialogue between European Romanticism and the Spanish piano tradition, performed on an exceptional original Pleyel piano from 1851, Chopin's preferred instrument.

Internationally recognized for his performances on historical instruments, Kawaguchi stands out for his sensitivity, elegance and deep knowledge of the romantic repertoire, offering the public a sound experience very close to what Chopin himself might have heard.

Listening to Chopin's music on a 19th-century Pleyel piano, in the same place where the composer lived, makes this concert an experience that is hard to match.
