The magic of the historic piano returns to the Cartuja de Valldemossa with the opening concert of the XVII Pianino Festival 2026, starring the prestigious Japanese pianist Naruhiko Kawaguchi.

The recital will take place in the Cell of Frédéric Chopin and George Sand, a unique space where the composer spent the winter of 1838-1839 and where the extraordinary atmosphere that inspired part of his work is still preserved today.

🎼 Chopin and the Spanish composers

Under the title "Chopin and Spanish composers"Naruhiko Kawaguchi will offer a program that explores the musical dialogue between European Romanticism and the Spanish piano tradition, performed on an exceptional original Pleyel piano from 1851, Chopin's preferred instrument.

Internationally recognized for his performances on historical instruments, Kawaguchi stands out for his sensitivity, elegance and deep knowledge of the romantic repertoire, offering the public a sound experience very close to what Chopin himself might have heard.

✨ A once-in-a-lifetime concert

Listening to Chopin's music on a 19th-century Pleyel piano, in the same place where the composer lived, makes this concert an experience that is hard to match.

A perfect evening to inaugurate a new edition of the Pianino Festival and enjoy history, heritage and music in one of the most emblematic corners of Mallorca.

Interstices. Where the sun draws time
22 may - 20 sep
ArtFrom 4.5 €

What if time wasn't measured in hours... but in light?

Starting with a gesture as simple as looking at the sun,Aina Albo PuigserverIt invites us to enter a universe where light becomes matter, language, and a trace of the passage of time. This exhibition, created specifically for Space D ofEs Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art of PalmaIt is not limited to what we see: it moves us beyond the walls, towards an intimate, abstract and constantly transforming map.

Here, theinterstices—those tiny, almost invisible spaces between one moment and the next— reveal themselves as places where something begins to happen. They are pauses charged with meaning, where time silently becomes visible.

The exhibition route is traversed by theanalemmaThat figure-eight curve the sun traces throughout the year. It's not a tangible figure, but a writing of light. Through delicate geometries and materials like glass, wood, or glazes, the artist constructs a dialogue between precision and perception, between science and intuition.

More than an exhibition,IntersticesIt is an experience: an experiment where time is not only represented, but inscribed in matter. A reminder that time is not linear, but a living curve that transforms as we observe it.

🌿 About the artist

Born in Palma, Aina Albo Puigserver explores the intersection of landscape, geometry, and natural phenomena in her practice. Her works arise from contemplation and invite us to inhabit that uncertain territory between the real and the possible.

🌲 About the exhibition

This exhibition is located in a stately home where the doorknob is a woman's hand that knocks with an apple to enter; but where the life of trees and living beings may seem distant to us today.

They are often presented to us as images that glide across our screens with a newfound fragility that becomes untouchable. At the same time, our minds flicker with shadows we call climate anxiety, because within that distancing we also know that life outdoors defines our ability to live indoors.

The House and the Forest shines with that contemporary emotional climate, which comes and goes like hope and fear, desire, numbness, pain and joy, refracting through a historic domestic space: because today's home has a yesterday.

GAUDI. Intimate impressions — Aitor Ortiz in Can Balaguer

What can a fresh perspective on the world's most photographed architecture offer? Nearly 70 black and white works by Aitor Ortiz. 📷

📍 Practical information

📅 September 1, 2026 – November 15, 2026

📍 Can Balaguer — Pilar Montaner Room

🎟️ Free admission

📷 About the exhibition

Photographing architecture, especially that of Antoni Gaudí, presents a particular challenge and an inevitable question: what can a new perspective bring to such photographed works?

Aitor Ortiz took on the challenge of photographing the architecture of the Catalan genius to explain something that had not been seen in the same way until now. He did not set out to find elements not yet photographed—perhaps impossible—but rather to observe them with austerity and detachment. Subtly, he also reveals the Gaudí who navigated between the artisanal traditions of the past and the technological modernity of his time, emphasizing the importance of his workshop-laboratory.

By eliminating the rhetoric of color and delving into the details, he discovers a Gaudí who is surprisingly current and modern for his time.

🖼️ The assembly

Nearly 70 small-scale, classically styled works, created using highly contemporary printing and mounting techniques. The exhibition is notable for its understated presence, making visual silence—as in the music of Frederic Mompou—the central element.

Find Miró The magical spark - Exhibition at the Miró Mallorca Foundation
11 feb - 17 jan
ArtFrom 4 €

Miró's most experimental stage: found objects, “discarded” materials and the art of looking at everyday life again

This exhibition revolves around a beautiful idea: Miró does not “discover”, but rather “rediscovers”. Based on his own past, sketches, works in progress, forgotten materials and unexpected finds, the exhibition tells how that “spark” that drives his creation is activated.

It is presented at the Edifici Moneo (Espai Estrella) and brings together paintings, drawings, sculptures/models, documents, photos, objects and videos.

✅ Why go
Because it's not just “seeing works”: it's entering Miró's mental workshop. If you like to understand the creative process (how an idea is born from something everyday), this exhibition is made for that.

To keep in mind
On Mondays it is closed and they do not sell tickets 45 minutes before closing, so don't leave it until the last minute.

📖 The exhibition

Internationally recognised for her expansive practice, Grosse has redefined the field of painting for over three decades, taking it beyond the canvas into direct engagement with architecture, landscape and public space. She conceives the world as a space for painting: in «Arrels» she transforms La Llotja into an active field of experience, using colour as a force to unify disparate elements and generate multisensory immersion.

Grosse draws no distinction between painting, sculpture and architecture, nor between interior and exterior, viewer and participant. This intervention marks a particularly significant moment in her career: the site itself becomes a subject, responding to La Llotja's historical dimension as one of Palma's most iconic heritage spaces.

🏛️ At Es Baluard

La Llotja opens 10.30 am–1 pm and 4–9 pm (until 7 pm from November). General admission to Es Baluard covers the building, temporary exhibitions, the collection galleries, the Aljub and the upper terraces.

ℹ️ Museum hours: Tuesday to Saturday 10 am–8 pm, Sunday 10 am–3 pm, closed Mondays.

Colour, architecture and memory made into experience in one of Palma's most iconic spaces.
