Art & Exhibitions in Mallorca

The first International Festival of Photography and Contemporary Image in Mallorca, held simultaneously across the island. Mallorca will become a major destination for contemporary visual culture by hosting the inaugural edition of this new flagship biennial festival dedicated to photography and moving images, spearheaded by Art Palma Contemporani.

For more than four months, the entire island transforms into a vibrant stage for contemporary image creation, with events and exhibitions taking place simultaneously in Palma and in municipalities throughout Mallorca. The festival brings together a rich network of museums, galleries, cultural centers, independent spaces, and local councils under an ambitious program.

Installation in the Cubic Space: art between architecture, painting and performance, with fire as a symbol of transformation  

This exhibition by Carlos Bunga (Oporto, 1976) moves between building and undoing, the fragile and the monumental.

Her projects usually arise from the process and the space itself: she uses everyday materials (cardboard, tape, fabrics) to create installations that seem delicate, but have a lot of visual strength.

In Palma, the idea revolves around fire as something that destroys and also regenerates: what ends can be the beginning of something else.

It is not a “wall” exhibition: it is an installation to walk through. If you like montages that feel physical and force you to look at the space in a different way, this is a very good one.

What if time wasn't measured in hours... but in light?

Starting with a gesture as simple as looking at the sun,Aina Albo PuigserverIt invites us to enter a universe where light becomes matter, language, and a trace of the passage of time. This exhibition, created specifically for Space D ofEs Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art of PalmaIt is not limited to what we see: it moves us beyond the walls, towards an intimate, abstract and constantly transforming map.

Here, theinterstices—those tiny, almost invisible spaces between one moment and the next— reveal themselves as places where something begins to happen. They are pauses charged with meaning, where time silently becomes visible.

The exhibition route is traversed by theanalemmaThat figure-eight curve the sun traces throughout the year. It's not a tangible figure, but a writing of light. Through delicate geometries and materials like glass, wood, or glazes, the artist constructs a dialogue between precision and perception, between science and intuition.

More than an exhibition,IntersticesIt is an experience: an experiment where time is not only represented, but inscribed in matter. A reminder that time is not linear, but a living curve that transforms as we observe it.

🌿 About the artist

Born in Palma, Aina Albo Puigserver explores the intersection of landscape, geometry, and natural phenomena in her practice. Her works arise from contemplation and invite us to inhabit that uncertain territory between the real and the possible.

Climb up to the terraces to see Palma from above: bay, bell tower, flying buttresses and rose window (guided tours in shifts)

If you are looking for a “wow” plan without leaving the center, this is one of the most special experiences: you tour the terraces of the Cathedral and see up close elements that are normally only appreciated from below (buttresses, rose windows, Gothic details), as well as brutal views of the bay and the city.

The visits are made in groups, with shifts every 30 minutes and lasting approximately 1 hour. 

✅ Why go
It is the typical plan that surprises even if you have already been to the Cathedral: it totally changes the perspective and feels very “Palma”.

For security reasons, access is limited to people over 9 years old and it is not recommended if you have cardiorespiratory problems, vertigo or reduced mobility.

Miró's most experimental stage: found objects, “discarded” materials and the art of looking at everyday life again

This exhibition revolves around a beautiful idea: Miró does not “discover”, but rather “rediscovers”. Based on his own past, sketches, works in progress, forgotten materials and unexpected finds, the exhibition tells how that “spark” that drives his creation is activated.

It is presented at the Edifici Moneo (Espai Estrella) and brings together paintings, drawings, sculptures/models, documents, photos, objects and videos. 

✅ Why go
Because it's not just “seeing works”: it's entering Miró's mental workshop. If you like to understand the creative process (how an idea is born from something everyday), this exhibition is made for that.

Gaudí in La Seu - Exhibition

The Cathedral-Basilica of Santa María de Mallorca will host the exhibition "Gaudí at the Cathedral of Mallorca. Liturgy, art and modernity", an exhibition that explores in an informative and documented way the influence of Antoni Gaudí on the Mallorcan temple.
